May 27, 1987- What Language?

What Language are you speaking these days? There's a
cross made of wood and a road along the way. If we say
the right things we can make it. Don't stop to explain your-
self.

G R E E T
and then
make contact
but don't stop.

You mouth is a soft button waiting to be depressed- by a word or a kiss.
The world is stretched under the sky and there are places to go.

I shudder in the spotlight with my lips frozen-
Maybe with some prompting from the stage manager we'll make it.

My ton-
gue's
a
rubber-
band
and
my ears
cement.

GREET
AND
MOVE
ON.

A joke
and a passing
rhyme.- Words
so c l e a r
they
don't think anymore.

What language?

The

awaits
our
next step,
our next
jump.

Picture
words
and they'll
start to
come out.

What language?

Hello
and
then
Goodbye.
